Taking the pressure off internal resources

caciCACI Ltd, a leading supplier of IT solutions, software consultancy and digital services, wanted to enhance the product documentation for one of their software products, Cygnum, to provide improved support for their customers.

CACI engaged doc-department to provide the additional expertise and resources CACI needed to deliver the enhanced product documentation and customer experience.

doc-department’s unique technical authoring-as-a-service model provided CACI with an extended team that could easily bolt on to CACIs quality assurance process, thereby taking the pressure off internal resources. CACI knew that it was important to work closely in this way to develop and consistently deliver the enhanced product documentation they envisaged for their customers.

doc-departments flexibility ensured that CACI had the expertise and resources necessary to deliver their short-term objectives in time for the latest release of Cygnum, whilst also providing the longer-term continuity to develop and deliver the enhanced product documentation CACI required.

For the initial phase, doc-department migrated over 1,000 pages of A4 content from MS Word to MadCap Flare in 12 weeks. This ensured that the product documentation was available in the new product branding in time for the launch. In addition, doc-department produced an online version of the product documentation which has been well received by CACIs customers.

Over the coming year, doc-department will continue to work with CACI to further develop the online documentation, as well as produce the product documentation as part of the product development process. This will ensure CACI can deliver on its objective to provide improved support for their customers.

“When we decided to enhance our product documentation to provide improved support to our customers, it was clear that we needed a partner to help us deliver. doc-departments documentation-as-a-service model made it easy for us to extended our team by bolting them into our QA process; so taking pressure off internal resources. Having already delivered on the initial phase, we look forward to our ongoing relationship with doc-department.”
