Reactec, the UK leader in Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) risk management, wanted to rationlaise and standardise their product documentation ahead of the fast-tracked launch of their new cloud-based reporting platform – the Reactec Analytics Platform (RAP).
While Reactec’s documentation covered their existing range of hardware products, the introduction of the cloud-based analytics platform provided the opportunity to standardise and rationalise all their product documentation.
The components of RAP are used by a wide range of people fulfilling different roles in an organisation. This presented a challenge to ensure that each person could get a clear understanding of the platform as a whole without overwhelming them with irrelevant content.
To achieve this, doc-department developed a single source content model that comprehensively documented the complete platform, while enabling specific guides to be produced for each role.
doc-department implemented the content model using MadCap Flare. The existing guides were imported into Flare, and new content created for the Analytics Software. With Flare’s flexible topic-based authoring environment the content could be easily assigned to guides tailored to each role with important content shared between them.
In less than 10 weeks doc-department documented the new Analytics Software and rationalised a large array of existing material in to a cohesive and comprehensive suite of documents that were carefully designed and well-tailored to the audience groups requiring the documentation.
“doc-department met all our requirements precisely and delivered the project with the utmost professionalism within a very aggressive timeline imposed by our launch requirements. Reactec would look no further than doc-department for any future documentation requirements.”
