IndigoVision, a leading manufacturer of complete IP video security solutions, developed Mobile Center™, a mobile app, to extend their surveillance capabilities beyond the control room to enable security personnel to monitor their system when on patrol.

The mobile app provides the key features required by security personnel when out of the control room. All other tasks are done using the standard desktop operator interface. This presented a challenge to ensure only the relevant content is available to users regardless of the device they are using. In addition, it was necessary to manage the expectations of operators familiar with the suite to ensure they know on which device specific tasks can be performed.

To address these challenges, doc-department created an embedded help system for the app using the device’s internal browser, and created administration specific content that was integrated into the existing documentation suite. All content was single-sourced to minimize the ongoing maintenance of the extended content.

This approach has ensured that the right content is available where and when it is needed, enabling users to get on with the job at hand.

In addition, the embedded help is simple for developers to deploy – saving them time. And by single-sourcing the content with the rest of the documentation suite, maintenance costs have been kept to a minimum.

doc-department developed a simple solution to address the challenges of delivering help for multi-device applications. Simple for the developers, intuitive for the users, and low maintenance.”
